• $40.00 to $45.00 per hour, to be negotiated based on experience

Credentials: Journeyman/woman’s certificate as Heavy-Duty Mechanic/Technician, an asset
Experience Requirement: 6 years of hands-on experience

Own Tools and Equipment: Steel-toed safety boots
Duties:
• Rebuild and overhaul engines, transmissions, final drives and differentials on multiple brands of equipment.
• Conduct hydraulic pump and cylinder rebuilds as needed.
• Restore equipment to like-new condition following wear or major failures.
• Troubleshoot major and minor issues related to heavy equipment/heavy trucks.
• Diagnose and determine the nature and extent of repairs on multiple brands of equipment.
• Clean, lubricate and perform preventative and corrective maintenance of all systems (mechanical, electrical and hydraulic).
• Test repaired equipment for proper performance and to ensure manufacturers' specifications are met.
• Read and follow electrical and hydraulic diagrams
• Follow the disassembly and assembly process from the manuals
• Order parts and maintain inventory
• Keep maintenance reports and other documentation
• Schedule work and coordinate with Shop Lead & other teammates.
• May perform light welding to repair equipment components
• May operate and test heavy equipment to diagnose issues and confirm that repairs meet manufacturers’ specifications
• May drive to and from the shop to pick up parts
• May instruct and supervise apprentices
